We arrived this afternoon at the only marina that would let us stay during a hurricane. I can see why. The marina is in a basin several hundred feet off the ICW completely surrounded by dense trees and mangroves. There is no fetch, therefore no waves. I’m told also there is no surge. The boat should be pretty well protected here unless another nearby boat breaks loose and hits her.
It’s looking like we’ll probably only get 30-60 kts of wind if the projections are correct. If Friday the projections are toward the low-end we’ll stay on the boat, otherwise we’ll find a motel.

On our canal at Lighthouse Point, someone brought in a boat and used ropes across the canal between 2 houses to center his boat with no regard to how it could break loose! He did not even ask permission of the two houses one of which was ours to tie off on our pilings. Some people have all the nerve. To make matters worse, we didn’t even know who it was! Best of luck with your berth.

The winds are picking up this morning in Stuart. Skies are gray and every wind chime around the house is singing. We’re expecting bluster and erosion, nothing more. You two, on the other hand, are in for a ride. Glad you found safe harbor. Our thoughts are with you (and your beautiful boat), please keep us posted.
